How Barri Viu works
Three ways to look at the official data on Barcelona's neighbourhoods: the map, the chat and the comparisons.
1. Explore the map
Pick an indicator, such as rent, income or tourist flats, and the map shades all 73 neighbourhoods by the official figure. You can change the year, switch from neighbourhoods to districts, and see how each indicator has moved over time. No account needed.
2. Ask in your own words
In the chat you can type a question the way you would say it, for example “where has rent risen most in the last five years?”. The answer is calculated from the data, not made up by a language model, and it always says which year and which source the figure comes from. The chat requires signing in.
3. Compare neighbourhoods
Every neighbourhood and district has its own page, with the figures, where it stands against the rest, and the trend. Comparisons put two neighbourhoods side by side so the differences are clear at a glance.
Why you can trust it
Every figure comes from official Barcelona City Council portals, and every page says where each figure comes from and what year it is for. When a figure does not exist we do not show one: we never replace it with a zero or an estimate. The methodology page explains what each figure means and where its limits are.
